Fellowship
[fel-low-ship] - noun
an association of persons having similar tastes, interests, etc., friendliness.
There are many opportunities for fellowship at SPC. Following each worship service there is coffee and refreshments in Fellowship Hall. Coffee fellowship is an excellent time to visit with members and friends of Summerville. Members of SPC with similar interests form "small groups". "Small groups" meet regularly in a social settings and talk about things they have in common and to get to know each other better away from church.
In April, members of SPC went to Watson Homestead for a weekend retreat. Watson Homestead is located near Corning, NY. This multigenerational retreat provided an opportunity for SPC members to get to know each other outside of church. It was a wonderful experience for everyone.
Women's Circles are also an important part Summerville fellowship.
Esther
Circle - Esther Circle meets the fourth Wednesday of each month in Memorial Lounge at 11:00 a.m., except for the months of
July and August. The main purpose of Esther circle is
Bible study and fellowship. Each member brings a bag lunch. After Bible study is finished, members have
lunch and conversation, sometimes relating to the Bible study or families. Two collections
are taken, one for the Fellowship of the Least Coin and the other a
miscellaneous fund that is used for a worthy cause. We also send cards to any members who are ill
or could use a note of cheer.
Sarah Circle - Sarah Circle usually
meets in the Memorial Lounge at SPC. The women of Sarah Circle have interesting book
reviews and discussions. They've made visits to local historical places: the Susan B Anthony House in Rochester and the Genesee
Rochester Lighthouse in Charlotte. Members work at the SPC
Garage Sales in the fall and spring.
