All aboard the Per Capita Express - We need your help!
What is Per Capita?
Just as a train cannot move without an engine, our governing bodies (Presbytery, Synod, General Assembly) require a power source to enable them to provide services that support our mutual mission as the Body of Christ.
What services does Per Capita fund?
Per Capita helps fund local and national Presbyterian activities , resources and leadership that unite us as a Presbyterian denomination and help support our own church mission.
Why is Per Capita Important?
Because it allows us to actively participate in helping to govern, lead and make a difference in the world outside of our own church community.
How much is Per Capita?
Similar to last year, Summerville is asking each of our members to contribute $30 per individual member to help fund our Church Per Capita assessment of $25.71 per member.
Why should I pay Per Capita if I also pledge?
Pledge income is used to directly support Summerville church and its mission while Per Capita income is used to support our broader Presbyterian mission.
What happens if I don't pay my Per Capita?
Summerville is assessed Per Capita on every individual active member. The difference between what we are assessed and what we receive in member Per Capita income becomes an expense of the Church and paid out of our budget.
Is Per Capita considered a charitable contribution?
Yes, the same as your pledge payment or any other donation made to the church.
So how much should I pay for my entire family?
A husband and wife would pay $30 each or $60 assuming both are active members of Summerville. There is no assessment for children unless they have been confirmed and are now members of the church.
What if I have a question about Per Capita?
You may always contact your pastor , Dottie or any member of the Stewardship & Finance Committee to discuss questions or concerns.
I want to do my part as a Presbyterian, how do I pay my Per Capita?
It's easy! Make a check payable to Summerville for your 2010 Per Capita payment, which you can place in the offering plate or mail to the church office.
Thank you for your support as a faithful member of SPC.
